It seemed like a beautiful, yet audacious, idea: a father and his teenage son embarking on a four-week, 555-kilometer, 22,200-vertical-meter trek across Europe's highest mountains. This challenging journey, known as the "Dream Path," stretches from Munich to Venice. Immersed in pristine nature and breathtaking panoramas, far from global news, we hoped to create space for intimate conversations. My son, Jack, hesitantly agreed to this epic hiking adventure, thankfully unaware of the challenges that lay ahead.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the month-long journey was interrupted and stretched over two years. These were the years when Jack began to forge his own path, and I struggled to contain my own restlessness.
The sudden passing of my father, and later my mother, became intertwined with this unforgettable father-son adventure along Europe's most beautiful hiking route. The Dream Path is a story about fatherhood, grief, and the healing power of walking.
